Walk this way
As a member of Edmonton’s Commonwealth Walkways Committee, Jon helped to create an immersive experience that takes people on a 10 km interactive journey through Edmonton’s North Saskatchewan River Valley.
Along the way, medallions displaying Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s personal monogram tell people they’re on the right path. Lieutenant Governor Lois Mitchell unveiled the first medallion with H.R.H. Princess Anne at Government House in November 2018.
The Walkway honours Edmonton’s past, present and stunning nature so people can truly appreciate this ribbon of green that flows through our city.
Treaty 6
Edmonton is located within Treaty 6 territory and within traditional territories of the Nehiyaw (Cree), Denesuliné (Dene), Niitsitapi (Blackfoot), Anishinaabe (Ojibwe/Saulteaux), and Nakota Sioux (Stoney). Edmonton is also located in the Métis homelands and Métis Nation of Alberta Region IV. We acknowledge and thank the diverse Indigenous peoples whose ancestors’ footsteps have marked this territory for centuries.
“As you travel along the Walkway, you walk with history at your back and nations by your side. Enjoy the journey.”
